DANCER/CHOREOGRAPHER

Born Sep. 27, 1986, Tbilisi, Georgia,  Natia graduated from V.  Chabukiani Choreographic School, she continued her studies at Boston Ballet School in 2002-2004, under the Sydelle Gomberg Special Scholarship and at The  Joffrey Ballet School  on full schollarship, NY (USA) in 2006-2005. 

In 2005-2008, she became a dancer at Pennsylvania Ballet Company. 

In 2008-2012, she joined her home company at Tbilisi Z. Paliashvili State Opera and Ballet Theatre and has dance a full repertoire of classical, neo-classical and contemporary works.

Since 2010, she has participated in Mariam Aleksidze’s independent choreographic projects, as well as the joint projects of Giorgi Aleksidze Foundation for the Development of Contemporary Choreography at Rustaveli Theatre. 

Since 2015 till now, she has been teaching classical and contemporary ballet at Maka Makharadze’s  Ballet Studio, where she has choreographed a number of full children’s classical and contemporary  ballet performances.

In 2016, Natia Bunturi became principal dancer  at Giorgi Aleksidze Tbilisi Contemporary Ballet and has danced leading roles in contemporary and neo-classical choreographies.

She has participated in South-Caucasus Contemporary Dance festival in 2015, as a dancer and a debut choreographer.

Scince 2016 till now she has been guesting as a lead dancer at “Sosani Tanztheatre”, Regensburg, Germany. 

She stages choreography for drama theatres as well as independent choreographical projects, live performances and music-video art collaborations. She  has  staged performances for Tbilisi New Drama festival, Iliauni Theatre, G. Eristavi Gori Drama Theatre,  Sokhumi Drama Theatre and for Tbilisi Contemporary Dance Festival.

Natia is a guest artist and a choreographer at Sokhumi Drama Theatre.

She has been a nominee for the best theatrical performance at Tsinandalyi Award, 2015, Tbilisi, Georgia.
